Dr. F. James Clark

Celebrating 50 Years of Preaching

Reverend Dr. Freddy J. Clark, a St. Louis native, accepted his call to ministry at a young age and has led several congregations throughout his career. In 1993, he founded Shalom Church (City of Peace), rooted in preaching, teaching, and prayer. Dr. Clark earned a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Bishop College, and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary, which also awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity in 2017.

His civic engagement includes serving as Chaplain for the North St. Louis County Police Precinct, Commissioner for Metro Transit, and board member for Christian Hospital and iHeartMedia. He co-led "A Call to Oneness," a powerful local march with over 20,000 African American men, and organized one of the country’s largest church-led health fairs.

Dr. Clark has received numerous honors, including the NAACP’s 100 Most Inspiring St. Louisans, Lifetime Achievement Award from the St. Louis Gateway Classic Foundation, and recognitions from Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, and the Urban League. A published author and respected preacher, his works include The King Has Come, Samson’s Weakness, and his doctoral dissertation on hospitality in ministry.

He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, 100 Black Men, and the NAACP. Dr. Clark is married to Cheryl Waller Clark and has three adult children.
